Jonathan Anderson will be honored at the London Design Festival

Launched in 2003, the London Design Festival returns this year to celebrate the creativity of the British capital, bringing together some of the country’s leading designers, professionals, retailers, and educators. The 2026 edition, scheduled to take place in London starting September 20, will also feature a special honor: Jonathan Anderson is the winner of the London Design Medal.

The creative director of Dior and his eponymous fashion house will receive the prestigious award alongside the other winners in various categories: the Lifetime Achievement Award will go to Sir Christopher Frayling, a cultural historian and academic; the Design Innovation Award will be presented to Anab Jain, a designer and filmmaker; while the Emerging Design Award will be awarded to Solveiga Pakštaitė, an industrial designer specializing in sustainable and user-centered projects. The winners will receive their medals during a ceremony scheduled for Monday evening at RH London, The Gallery, in Mayfair.

As reported by WWD, the festival organizers chose to honor Anderson for his ability to blend haute couture with a curatorial approach to design, making him a distinctive voice in the contemporary fashion scene. They explain that he is guided by a personal aesthetic vision that offers a contemporary reinterpretation of masculinity and femininity.

This award also celebrates his commitment to the worlds of craftsmanship and art. Throughout his career, Anderson has curated exhibitions at The Hepworth Wakefield and the Offer Waterman Gallery, and in 2016, he founded the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize, the first international award dedicated to contemporary craftsmanship.

“It means the world to me. It’s a true honor to be recognized by the LDF for my work in the field of craftsmanship and design, which has always been a personal passion of mine,” said the designer.
