While Saint Laurent’s Summer 2027 collection transformed Paris, if only for a moment, into a city of gold, the footwear translated that vision into something even more intimate: a language of seduction, precision, and dizzying femininity.
Sky-high heels, sharp as blades and incredibly sensual: a silhouette that has now become one of Anthony Vaccarello’s signature styles. Their impact, however, does not stem from excess, but from the precision of every single detail. Gold appears in unexpected forms: the heels curve, transforming into sinuous serpent tails, inspired by the reptile sculptures that Yves Saint Laurent kept in his home on Rue de Babylone; ultra-thin golden threads wrap around the foot and climb up the ankle, sometimes converging on a central stone, other times enclosing the heel in a sort of golden, almost architectural cage. Other heels are engraved with motifs evoking reptilian scales, while tiny chain details and small black stones bearing the Saint Laurent logo emerge like secret jewels, visible only up close.
It is precisely this tension between opulence and secrecy that makes the footwear presented yesterday so magnetic. A sort of jewel for the foot, yet imbued with the unmistakable Saint Laurent attitude: powerful, darkly seductive, and impeccably controlled. Some of these pieces are jewels in the literal sense, featuring genuine lapis lazuli, amethysts, and tiger’s eye stones set in the center of the sandals. Shaping this world of footwear is Corrado De Biase, an Italian designer and freelance Design Director for Saint Laurent’s women’s footwear division. We spoke with him to learn more about the creative process behind the collection, from the references that inspired its most distinctive details to the craftsmanship that brought them to life. His signature style blends harmoniously with Vaccarello’s precise balance between structure and sensuality, between the dizzying height of the heel and the almost secret sophistication of the details.
