Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated new film, The Odyssey, will be officially available on IMAX cinema screens on July 17, 2026. Based on the epic poem composed by Homer around the 8th century B.C., namely The Odyssey, the film boasts a stellar cast including, among others, such prominent actors as Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya and Charlize Theron, as well as the appearance of such characters as Travis Scott, already spotted in an earlier teaser.
While waiting for the chance to witness the heroic deeds of the protagonists, in the last few hours fans around the world got a further glimpse thanks to the release of a new official trailer. Indeed, on the occasion of the episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert aired on Monday, May 5, 2026, the trailer was premiered, providing a new privileged look at Homer’s portrayal of the Greek epic.
If Matt Damon will play the role of the protagonist, Ulysses, Anne Hathaway will play his wife Penelope and Tom Holland his son Telemachus. Robert Pattinson, on the other hand, will be Antinous, suitor of Ithaca, Zendaya the goddess of wisdom Athena and Charlize Theron the sorceress Circe.
Produced by Nolan together with Emma Thomas through their production company, Syncopy, this represents the director’s 13th feature film for the director, whose release date will see him compete with another highly desired blockbuster such as Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
