Lili Reinhart’s next film is titled *The Love Hypothesis*, in which the actress plays a biology Ph.D. student grappling with an unexpected relationship with a professor. The genre? Obviously a rom-com. And you don’t need to read the plot or the novel of the same name on which the film is based to figure that out—just look at the outfits Lili wore during the press tour. Together with her stylist Ib Abdel Nasser, the actress paid homage to some of the most iconic romantic comedies of the past, alternating between cinematic references and 2000s-inspired looks, vintage dresses, and graphic T-shirts.
Among the most obvious tributes was the one to *13 Going on 30*, featuring the famous polka-dot trench coat by Nanette Lepore worn by Jennifer Garner, which was loaned to Reinhart for the occasion. But there was also a replica of Kate Hudson’s iconic butter-yellow dress from *How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days*, a Rodarte creation inspired by Drew Barrymore in *Ever After*, and a Tory Burch dress reminiscent of the green one worn by Keira Knightley in *Atonement*, considered one of the most beautiful dresses in film history. And then there’s a lilac Hervé Léger bandage mini dress, custom-made by Michelle Ochs, that pays homage to Gracie Hart, the character played by Sandra Bullock in *Miss Congeniality*.
But there were also brand-new, romantically inspired looks, worthy of a true star of the genre. Like the Valentino outfit featuring a lilac high-neck bodysuit with lace details, paired with a matching miniskirt; the butter-yellow ensemble with a halter top and pencil skirt; or the vintage Dolce&Gabbana corset dress with a print in shades of pink and green and crisscrossed lacing on the sides. And then there’s an ochre jacket with a belt, paired with flared jeans, and her ever-present vintage graphic T-shirts, which over the years have become one of the hallmarks of her style. This time, she opted for a T-shirt emblazoned with the words “Love is Anarchy,” worn with low-rise bootcut jeans.
